Only two years ago, HTC was one of the greatest powers in the smartphone market. Now the company reports that in the last quarter sold only 6 million mobile and recorded the first ever loss . The flagship company – HTC One – was only 2.1-2.4 million buyers. The situation did not improve either the HTC One Mini, which debuted in July. Monthly sales of this device is 200 000 units.
‘s situation is deteriorating from quarter to quarter, and global sales of 6,000,000 units looks very pale in comparison with the peak period of development of the company, while in the third quarter of 2011 in the U.S. alone, the company sold 5.6 million smartphones.
Between July and September of this year HTC wynois?y revenues of about $ 1.6 billion operating loss to $ 119 million, and net loss amounted to PLN 101 million USD.
HTC was founded in 1999 and produced on behalf of smartphones. In 2006 it was decided that the device will be sold under its own brand. It was a hit. HTC became the first androidowym giant known for producing high quality equipment. With time, others joined the race and HTC was defeated by Samsung, LG and some Chinese companies, including Lenovo and ZTE. The Taiwanese company released the Windows Phone models, which attracted quite a lot of interest. Were sold 400-500 thousand of these devices, making HTC a third – after Nokia and Samsungu – company on the market of smartphones with Microsoft’s platform. Now that the Nokia sells its mobile division to Microsoft, HTC again found themselves in trouble. The Finnish company plans to license its extensive portfolio of patents and thou shalt eat of violating its intellectual property. The first one went just HTC. Nokia has already received a preliminary ban on sales of the Taiwanese smartphone in the U.S..
